Kern River July 25-27
Chamise Flat Campground

The campsite is free. It’s an overflow campsite.

I recommend getting a life jacket too.

It usually pretty mellow, but I always bring one to sit on so my butt does hit the rocks.

Bring all the food and camping gear you will need.

Bring a tent, sleeping bag, food, and beer. You can always grab a burger at McNallys a mile away and there is a small store next to McNallys, but they close early.

How to get there

I’m Driving up after work. Ill prolly get to the camp site around 8pm
UPDATE ill prolly be there 10pm
From LA to the campsite takes about 3 hours.

The easiest way to get there go to:

Sierra Gateway Market
13432 Sierra Way, Kernville, CA 93238

Once you get to the market set your millage to zero. We do this because there is no cell service once you leave Kernville area.

Drive north on Sierra Gateway 12 miles ( the name changes to Mountain Hwy 99). The campground will be on your left side. It’s just a dirt driveway. If you pass it there is a second entrance down the road.

Find a campsite. Campsites are non-reserved, first come. I don’t think it will be busy enough to run out of sites.

I will be in my black two door Jeep Wrangler.

If you hit McNallys restaurant that means you went about a mile too far.

If you run in to McNallys Restaurant you went to far. Turn around and go back about a mile.

Here is a map where it’s at
